Now Live: Chronic by Alice C. Hart

Chronic
Author: Alice C. Hart
Expected Publication Date: October 13, 2017
Cover Art: Katrina

Brooke Jones is struggling with a chronic disease that few understand and even fewer know how to treat. Between hormone therapy, pointless surgeries, and the copious amounts of medication she’s forced to take, Brooke is nothing more than a piss poor shadow of her former self.

Her diagnosis was the domino that toppled her health, her weight, her attitude, and finally, her dreams. It has consumed every aspect of her life, strained her relationships, and jeopardized her career.

She will tell you things you can’t find in the ‘facts’ or ‘statistics’. She will show what it’s like to be torn apart from the inside. You will witness, first hand, the lengths a woman is willing to go to find relief from the pain.

Hell has a new name. It’s Endometriosis.

***This book contains adult situations and is recommended for readers over 18 years old. My characters are never perfect nor do they try to be.***

Nobody listened to how I actually felt. I was always being dramatic or overreacting. Weird, I wasn't an actress and I never took drama. People, including my own family, had formed opinions about my behavior and me.

Living with pain has taken its toll on Brooke before she even learned of her actual diagnosis. From the onset of her first period into her adult life, Brooke has come to dread her time of the month. Once correctly diagnosed it isn't a simple fix and she's on her way either-- so begins the journey of many doctors, prescriptions, and the battle of wills.

What really stood out to me about this book was the writing style. It almost felt as if I was reading someone's diary or watching a movie with commentary on. It was real, raw, and darkly comedic. I laughed with Brooke, felt her heartbreak over certain decisions she had to make, and felt her anguish after every surgery or treatment that wasn't the ultimate cure. Despite snarky co-workers or unsympathetic nurses, it would be impossible for the reader not to connect with Brooke or to even blame her at times for being a little b!tchy. #TeamBrooke all the way!

Although I personally have not experienced chronic illness I felt this book was a very accurate portrayal of the struggles one who does faces and a picture into a real life of supportive friends, a caring partner, as well as the struggle within oneself. Although a fictionalized story reading this really opened my eyes to something I didn't really quite know about previously.

Highly recommended xx

Love isn't perfect. It's messy and complicated. It's one of the main reasons for murder, aside from money. People act, say and do some of the weirdest sh!t for love.

Banned Book Review ~ The Wild by K. Webster

I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn’t cope with our reality.
The plan was to make a new life that didn’t include heartache.
No people. No technology. No interference.
Just us.
A chance to piece together what was broken.
But the wilderness is untamed and harsh.
Brutal and unforgiving.
It doesn’t give a damn about your feelings.
Tragedy lives there too.
No escaping the truths that won’t let you go.
All you can do is survive where love, no matter how beastly, is the only thing you can truly count on.
Confusing. Wrong. Twisted. Beautiful. Sick.
Love is wild.
And we’re going to set it free.

WARNING:
The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable or maybe even offend you. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you.
Seriously, you’ve been warned.
Don’t say I didn’t try.
You’re probably going to cringe many, many, many times.
Even if you’re on the fence, it’s probably not a good idea to proceed.
However, if you’re intrigued and fearless and kind of sort of trust me, then carry on. This book is for you.

DeVil ~ Ker Dukey

Evi Devil.

Yes, that’s really my name.

The irony is not lost on me.

I was created from two evil souls and have the name to prove it.
Devil worshipers, perverts, murderer. Is all terms used to describe the parents I refuse to remember. My mind won’t allow me to.

And why would I want to?

One born of dirty blood running through her veins can never truly be clean from its murky hue.

No matter what they try to tell me happened in my past, my mind denies me access, therefore how can I know it’s true?

How can I believe that’s what I’m born from?

Glimpses of my past haunt me, the screams of terror echo in the silent darkness of my memories, trying to remind me that my Mother went from room to room butchering our family.

I’ve learned from scars that I suffered abuse and that my Father and siblings weren’t my Mother’s only victims.

Hearing what they tell me.

Reading the words printed in the papers. None of it can prepare me for what’s to come.

My biggest lesson is learning that some memories we suppress for a reason.

Pretty New Doll (Pretty Little Dolls #3) ~ Ker Dukey & K. Webster

Benny, broken, hurting, and alone
Lost his dolly, his love, his home.
Injured and searching, reborn anew,
He finds himself befriended by one who’s true.
Learning about the world, urges, and lust.
Finding a new future, a new dolly, is a must.
Then out of old pain, fresh prospects come to life,
Benny’s sick mind summons him, so his hand takes the knife.

Have you ever been so lost that you became a shadow? Lurking but not living. Existing in the background where no one notices you.
My doll betrayed me, killed me in more ways than she realized.
I'm watching, waiting, wanting.
One day soon she’ll give me back what she took away…

it’s funny how life works that way.

He was a stranger.
My first instinct was not to trust him, but then I learned... sometimes the most beautiful people have the ugliest scars.

Edgar Award Nominee ~ What Remains of Me by Alison Gaylin

On June 28, 1980—the hottest night of the year—Kelly Michelle Lund shoots and kills Oscar-nominated director John McFadden at a party in his home. . . . And instantly becomes a media sensation, her chilling smile fodder for national nightmares. For years, speculation swirls over the enigmatic seventeen-year-old’s motives, information she’s refused to share. Convicted of the murder, she loses her youth and her freedom—but keeps her secrets to herself.
Thirty years later—and five years after her release from prison—the past has come back to haunt Kelly. Her father-in-law, movie legend Sterling Marshall, is found in a pool of blood in his home in the Hollywood Hills—dead from a shot to the head, just like his old friend John McFadden. Once again, Kelly is suspected of the high profile murder. But this time, she’s got some unexpected allies who believe she’s innocent—of both killings—and want to help her clear her name. But is she?
Written with masterful precision and control, What Remains of Me brilliantly moves forward and back in time, playing out the murders side by side—interweaving subtle connections and peeling away layers of events to reveal the shocking truth.

Wire (Wrong Series #3) ~ Stevie J. Cole & LP Lovell

Tor
Jude and I managed to salvage something beautiful from the war torn rubble of our lives, a blissful happiness that we paid for in blood. We fought our way here, leaving pieces of ourselves along the way. I thought this was the happily ever after in our twisted fairy tale, but I was wrong.
Jude
I may be free by definition. That freedom came at a heavy cost and my family is about to pay the price. At any moment, this façade will come crashing down. Hard. The life I've lived—that kind of world—it stains you, and no matter how hard you try, you can never escape its wrath. Not even in death.
Love. Fear. Loss.
We're walking a wire and all that's beneath us is destruction.

Father ~ Clarissa Wild

Confess your sin.

People call me Father, but I prefer Frank because I’m the worst preacher you’ll ever meet. Days spent completely wasted pull a number on you, especially when you’ve got a truckload of baggage that comes with it. Until this beautiful girl in the back of the church takes my breath away.
…And we end up committing sacrilege in the confessional.
Did I mention I’m filthy?
Bad doesn’t even begin to describe me, and after one taste of what she’s got to offer, I want more. Too bad having a dirty mind isn’t the only thing we’ve got in common…
Our past is laced with sin.

Author’s Note: This book is not for everyone. It’s raw. It’s vulgar. It’s downright offensive. But it’s oh so delicious with a capital D. If you are easily offended, please don’t read this book. But if you like a bit of humor mixed in with raunchiness and brawling, you’ll love this book. Contains disturbing situations, strong language, and graphic violence.

Ravenous ~ L.L. Collins

Title: Ravenous
Author: L.L. Collins
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: April 20, 2017

Raven: To seek, plunder, or prey. To devour ravenously. To seize as spoil.

I am Raven.

I knew what it meant to fight my way through life.
To be the victim, the spoil, the prey.
I decided long ago I would take control of my future.

No more bug infested couches.

No more drug-addicted mothers or absentee fathers.

No more welfare checks or moldy bread.

No more settling.

I thought I had it all figured out, a way out of the hand I’d been dealt.

Until my life got turned upside down by two very different men who look at me with mirrored lust in their eyes.
Their want is palpable, heady. Their desire makes me reckless.
I no longer know who I am or who I want.

The only thing I do know is, I am ravenous.
Voracious. Intensely eager for gratification or satisfaction.

Despite the fact I know it is a disaster waiting to happen, I can’t stop it.

I’m afraid I will never be sated.

Opaque Mirrors ~ Courtney Lane

Please note, this is a dark erotic horror novel with heavy psychological elements; it is not a dark romance novel.

When the line between fiction and reality bleeds, there is no end to the lies or a truth to be found.

It was never supposed to happen. He was supposed to remain a porn star—the source of my fantasies—in my expansive collection of torture porn. But he found me, and he only wants one thing from me. He calls it the ultimate orgasm; death. He gives me the illusion of choice—my life or his.

I thought my choice would be the end of my troubles, but it followed me to a town known for its close-minded, small population and hypocritical way of thinking.

My madness lurks in the shadows. It watches me and seduces me with pretty smiles and dirty degradation. It assures me that my fantasies aren't wrong. It tells me that they will star in all of my nightmares…and I want nothing more.

Content contains strong violence, coarse language, graphic sex, scenes of horror, and situations that most readers would find objectionable. Reader discretion is highly advised.

Possession ~ Jaimie Roberts

On my fourteenth birthday, I was promised to a very wealthy man... A domineering man. A powerful man. On that day, the first of two transactions were made with my very unloving parents.

I became his possession. Something to own. Something to keep. An object intended only for his desire, his pleasure, and his ... indulgence.

Although promised to this man, I at least remained safe ... untouched ... pure. I was to be his and his alone.

On my eighteenth birthday, the second transaction took place.

I escaped... But he came for me. Now, I'm his. He owns my body and my soul.

And, as if all of that wasn't enough, he wants to own my heart too.

I’m trying to resist him—trying to fight that irresistible monster inside of him. But, as with everything else in my life, nothing is ever that easy.

Warning: Contains graphic scenes with sexual assault content. Please proceed with caution.

Wanted ~ Dee Palmer

I waited ten years for the right guy, then four come along at once.

I wasn’t even looking for my Mr Right. I thought I’d found him and he was just waiting for that perfect moment to pop the question. When the time came it was far from perfect The event left me a humiliated, broken-hearted mess.

Still, a person would have to be batshit crazy to do what I’ve done, or I’m about to do.

I’m Orange County bound with all my worldly possessions crammed into five suitcases and an agreement to marry one of four complete strangers. I just don’t know which one of the four men it’s going to be.

No need to panic.

I have a whole month to make my decision. Who would do such a thing? No sane woman that’s for sure, but then with a name like Seraphim, I was never going to normal.

Hi, you can call me Finn.

I am charming, attractive, and you probably want to sleep with me.

She will destroy me, I will do anything to get inside of her.

I can already feel her inside of me.
