Tight ~ Alessandra Torre

TIGHT Final Cover

I was happy in my small town. In my life as a single thirty-two year old woman. I had a good job, wonderful friends, my independence.
I also hadn't got laid in three years. Hadn't been on a date in two. Had stopped counting calories and putting on makeup... a while ago.
Then Brett Jacobs waltzed in. Caressed my thigh, dug rough fingers into my hair, lowered his soft mouth to my skin, took sexual control of my mind and stirred it all around with what he packed in his pants. He dumped my quiet life upside down and crawled into a place in my heart I thought was dead.
The issue is his secret. The issue is her. The issue is that I don't even know she exists, and he thinks she's dead. The issue is that everything is about to hit the fan and I can't hold on to him tight enough.

 4 corsets- I wanted MORE

The man I had fallen for hid something. I could feel it, slipping into bed with us at night, slithering up my bare legs, looking for a vulnerable place to bite.

Riley isn’t into late night parties and getting sloppy drunk so when her feet almost give out at her friend’s bachelorette party she’s done for the night. What she doesn’t expect is to run into Brett Jacobs, the epitome of tall, dark, & handsome- handing her a set of fuzzy slippers. A small act of chivalry soon turns into a whirlwind relationship of fancy destinations, elegant dinners, and late-night texts.

But Riley, a true Southern sweetheart, can’t get the little voice inside of her out of her head that’s saying- What seems too good to be true usually is…

Brett is hiding secrets. Big ones. The book hints at these secrets but they aren’t revealed until Riley goes in search of the secrets herself.

Also, weaved into the story is the viewpoint of Kitten, an unknown captive. Kitten refuses to break and fights her captor every chance she gets- hoping for a rescue.

Behind all of the lies, what is the truth?

I absolutely hate diving into books blindly- I want to know more than an elusive synopsis. What is the story ABOUT? When I looked at other reviewer’s comments I read they all recommended going in blindly- so I did, only knowing of a third viewpoint. Once I reached a little more into Kitten’s viewpoint the book picked up for me- I wanted answers . Sadly, my predictions from the first viewpoint of Kitten to the final were proven true. There was no twist, no mind f*ck for me and it greatly detracted from what I expected.

Although I didn’t get the BANG I was hoping for, the story was beautifully written and delightful to read. I really got a sense of who Riley was- a Southern princess: fierce, independent, and just a little sassy. She reminded me a lot of Sookie Stackhouse- with a little attitude but fierce Southern values. Brett was somewhat disinteresting to me- I prefer my male characters a little more Alpha and dominating- less insta-lovey dovey. Being an avid dark reader, I devoured each chapter in Kitten’s viewpoint and I wanted to know more on her captor. Who was he? What was his goal in all of this? I would definitely read a book about her captor- how he got to where he was, if this was his first “experiment”, and why he choose Kitten as his captive.

Overall, I still think this was a wonderful book- the writing flowed, the characters were strongly developed, and there was enough action and adventure to keep my attention and get me to turn the pages. I’d highly recommend this to those who want a traditional contemporary romance with a tinge of darkness.
