“I can be your surrogate.” Those were the five words I uttered tonight. Five little words that stunned everyone into an awkward silence.
Alice & Kyle. Sarah & Ethan. Two seemingly perfect couples who appear to be the best of friends. After years of trying for a baby, Sarah and Ethan start contemplating surrogacy. Before anyone can even think too much Alice selflessly volunteers herself to give her best friend of 18 years the ultimate gift of life. A selfless decision for two wonderful people—but what happens when life forces 4 people into a blender?
I just discovered Jaimie Roberts recently and boy have I been missing out! Her stories keep getting better and better. This book was outside my usual genres for sure but it was a phenomenal story! Romance, friendship, betrayal, humor, and serious subjects- this book has it all. I found all of the characters to be extremely well-written and rounded. The characters were almost mirrors of each other; selfless and selfish. This book really pushes the darker side of a person and emphasizes those who truly have the light inside of them.
Alice
I had my suspicions regarding the more major twists but when they did happen I was shocked! Appalled even! I felt so attached to Alice throughout the story that at times I wanted to put the book down because I wanted so much to happen for her and was worried it would be all ripped away! I’m happy to say Alice eventually found her lady balls and become quite the woman.
A Surrogate Love Affair brings to mind so many controversial subjects and would be the perfect book for an ethics debate. It also shows the darker sides of marriage, obsession, and just how far someone will go to obtain what they want. At times you won’t be able to tell who is the villain and who is the hero.
Everyone who lies does it to fit their own agenda. But what if someone does it to fit your agenda? Does that automatically make the lie acceptable?
There’s not much more to say without lessening the experience but I cannot recommend this book enough! Even if it isn’t in your usual genre I’d say give it a go, you won’t be disappointed! 5 HUGE stars xx

Jaimie Roberts was born in London, but moved to Gibraltar in 2001. She is married with two sons, and in her spare time, she writes.
In June 2013, Jaimie published her first book, Take a Breath, with the second released in November 2013. With the reviews, Jaimie took time out to read and learn how to become a better writer. She gets tremendous enjoyment out of writing, and even more so from the feedback she receives.
