Title: White Pawn
Author: Stevie J Cole
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 22, 2017
This could have been a love story. It could have been, but he screwed that all up. You see, he thinks it’s a game. He thinks I’m his pawn, but he couldn’t be more wrong. Every move he makes, I’ll block him. Every time he thinks he’s about to seize me, I’ll run. Some men underestimate the power of the queen because they’re too busy playing king. They forget she’s the most powerful piece on the board. And love is not a game I’m apt at losing. What will it take for him to realize I’ll never be his pawn, but I’ll happily play his queen? Love is not a game, but the chase certainly is.
Because love is fleeting, it's an emotion. Something you'll shed a tear or two over. Obsession, it's something you'll shed blood for.
Taking fangirling to a dangerous level, Marisa has watched author Justin Wild for far too long. Like a venomous snake, she’s planned to make her attack, sink her fangs in, and irrevocably change the course of his life forever. This isn’t just love—its obsession.
I have to be honest that this book wasn’t what I expected. I expected a dark romance with a dangerous cat and mouse game-which it was- but it didn’t quite meet my expectations as a thriller. I felt the story came out too flat on the pages- everything was explained in text and I didn’t have a puzzle to uncover nor did I have truly any emotions reading this for the most part.
Furthermore, I felt the characters came out flat as well. I found them both narcissistic and empty- I felt Marisa had a real killer backstory that was barely touched on besides a sentence here and there- why did she do what she did? If she was so perfect for him why the DRASTIC games and plotting? It didn’t add up to me. Also, neither of them had redeeming characteristics- and not in an anti-hero way- in a these people suck way- why am I reading about them?
Despite I didn’t really connect with the story I did find the premise very interesting. I enjoyed being thrust in the world of indie authors as if this stuff might actually happen out there! Are signings THAT dramatic? Are all readers such bimbos? *giggles*
Overall I think this book is unique and may appeal to some dark readers out there looking for something different and kinda cray cray. 2.5 stars for me xx

Trailer
Stevie J. Cole lives deep in the woods of Alabama with her husband
and two precious daughters. She studied Epidemiology concentrating on cancer
research but has always had a passion for writing. Some of her stories will
strip you bare, some will give you nightmares, but the one thing she can
promise is that she will always give you stories that make you feel.
Raw. Gritty. Love.
Because sometimes characters need to be flawed.
P.S. Stevie's greatest fear is the impending zombie apocalypse. Think about it: swarming armies of decaying, oozing corpses stumbling around with clicking teeth, trying to eat your face. Nothing about that is good. NOTHING!
